About Us

The Motherhood Collective is a non-profit 501c3 organization providing education and support for soon to be and new parents in our community.  Our goal at The MC is to provide a space for expecting parents and new moms to learn and have fun together in a group atmosphere.
We offer a warm and inviting, safe space in town run by a Registered Nurse & International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).  Some of our services include private lactation consults, group classes, and fun events for pregnant and new mothers. We have a scale for baby weight checks and products for sale to help from conception through postpartum.
We also host groups of mothers every week to encourage peer-to-peer support and a community where mothers thrive together, collectively, rather than in isolation. We believe it takes a village, and not all mothers have one. Research has shown a myriad of benefits in all areas of postpartum when a mother feels supported in parenting. We offer that support for free, every week. All of our clinical classes and groups are nurse-facilitated.
You've heard it said "It takes a village".  It truly does.  Moms need other moms.  Knowledge is power.  Hands-on help with infant care in all aspects is priceless.  It will have a ripple effect for generations to come.

               Megan Atol, RN BSN IBCLC

Megan has been a Registered Nurse since 2013, working in Labor and Delivery as well as postpartum. In 2019 she sat for her board exam in lactation to become a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
Since then she has sought out extra training in the areas of oral function and habilitation, completing the IBCLC masterclass. She offers specialized plans of care in oral function and habilitation for babies with tongue, lip, and/or buccal ties.  She is also currently in a program to become a Myofunctional Therapist in an effort to expand much needed services to the Tehachapi community,
She has a passion for supporting mothers in their feeding journeys by offering hands on support and education tailored specifically for them and their baby.

Lead RN IBCLC
Lora comes to us with 12 years of nursing experience and has been working in lactation since 2015.
Lora is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). The IBCLC is the gold standard for all things infant feeding. She is currently underway in classes teaching advanced training on all things oral function so she can offer specific and individualized care to our families with tongue, lip, & buccal tie issues.
Not all providers are created equal. If you are having complications feeding your baby postpartum, make sure the help you seek is qualified to help you and actually knows how to help you. We are passionate about our community having access to qualified care, because it makes a difference in the lives of our mamas and babies.  Lora is available for home and office visits locally at our Tehachapi office space.
